Antwerp’s nightlife is second to none. The fashion culture and gay scene combine to create a party-like atmosphere in a city that never sleeps. The two main areas for going out are Schipperskwartier, the red light district in the north of the city, and ‘t Zuid in the south. The city is buzzing with vibrant clubs such as Fill Collins on Lange Schipperskapelstraat or Club Geluk on Luikstraat. However, if clubbing’s not your scene there are plenty of great bars and cafes to choose from. It goes without saying that beer can be found in abundance in Antwerp. There are hundreds of bars with vast beer menus where you could easily spend several hours sampling the products of Belgium’s fine brewing tradition. Stop off at Den Engel on the Grote Markt, a well known bar in a convenient location with a laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for sitting back and enjoying a cold beer.
