Bruges
Food & Drink
Food in Bruges is really geared towards tourists. It’s easy to find traditional restaurants serving up good Belgian favourites such as mussels and chips or waterzooi, a creamy chicken broth. Due to its close proximity to the sea, there are of course plenty of wonderful seafood restaurants where you can enjoy the fresh catch of the day – herring and shrimps are specialities.
Bruges also caters well for snacks and light bites to eat. There are lots of informal cafes where you can enjoy waffles with your choice of various different mouth-watering toppings from chocolate to strawberries and cream.
One place not to miss is the Gambrinus Bar on Philipstockstraat, where Belgium’s proud brewing tradition is celebrated with a selection of over 400 beers. Named after the fabled King of Beers, Gambrinus, it’s a beer lover’s paradise.
