Food & Drink

Mineral water is one of Belgium’s most popular drinks and visitors to Spa don’t just bathe in its health-giving waters, they also drink it! One of the most famous natural mineral water brands in the world, SPA, is bottled from a Spa spring. Chaudfontaine is another famous bottled brand of mineral water from a neighbouring town.

Belgians also love to drink to their health with a glass or two of beer, and there are plenty of good bars in Spa for enjoying Belgium’s other national drink. Le Cellier on rue des ecomines is an eclectic bar, popular with students, with an extensive list of speciality beers.

As you would expect for an upmarket resort, eating out in Spa is a gourmet experience. The Grand Café des Thermes is one of the oldest restaurants in the town and is perfectly situated on Place Royale. As the name suggests, it’s a fine dining establishment, offering traditional Belgian dishes cooked to perfection. It has a shaded terrace and covers for up to 200 people.

Le Sarani, also on Place Royale, offers an interesting combination of French and Italian dishes, with retro auto-sports décor inspired by the nearby Spa-Francorchamps racetrack. It has a large selection of freshly made pastas and mussels cooked in various sauces, as well as lots of different fresh salads and grills. Guests can enjoy evening meals on the terrace, either in the sun or in the shade.
